The Victim: A dark night and you go out for a smoke, a burglar comes out of the darkness and you feel a sharp pain on the back of your head. You wake up, bleeding on the snowy street, you cry for help, but no one comes.
The Cop: It’s your job. Your duty. You must protect the citizens. You get out of bed, glancing at your lover. How could you protect the people, if you can’t even protect your own marriage? Your badge shines under the lamp’s light, you pick it up, look it over, wondering.
The Criminal: You glance at the wealthy men sitting inside the television screen, you grunt in frustration. Everyone thinks they're saints, but they took your beloved Shellie and and here they are…your thoughts wander. It’s getting darker, you made the half hour drive to Sacred Oaks, the guards are standing there, ready. But so are you...
The Press: Another crime, another story. That’s your motto. A family butchered. That would be tomorrow’s headline, you grin with satisfaction. It was too good. The family’s portrait is centered on the front page, the perfect little family butchered, you think, chuckling.
The Detective: You arrive at the scene and you see the body of a woman, near her twenties, she was beautiful. You sigh and begin taking notes, her clothes are missing and so are her limbs. The smell is too powerful, it makes your stomach churn, you turn away and look at the rest of the evidence, a big lump forms in your throat as you look over the bloody scene.
The Entertainer: You sing your seducing songs, you’re the most wanted woman out there. Beautiful and astonishing, but no one knows your true intentions or your past. It’s best if they not pester the past, not if they want to live.
The People: Thousands of people live in Basin City, everyone of them with problems and opinions. Above all, secrets. Secrets that are not meant to be revealed. The thing about the residents of Basin City is that none of them are truly innocent.
The Screams Within takes place in the setting of Sin City, the Basin City community is polluted with crime and evil. The Roark Family is the Law and the Girls of Old Town are no one to mess with. The dirty cops work for the wealthy and the good ones die on the streets. Little children die and prostitutes are missing. Reporters are the first to arrive at the scene and will do anything to soil the reputations of anyone involved, they too are bought over to the Roark Family.
